Jason Lawson, Director & Owner’s Project Manager
What current projects are you working on?
Currently, I’m working on a project with athenahealth,a company that provides network-enabled services and mobile applications for healthcare and medical practice management and care coordination. The Watertown, Massachusetts campus where I’m working has a population of 2,000+ employees and its rapid growth has created a need for a 10-year master plan of projects.
I’m currently serving as the owner’s project manager for the Athena-Environment Team, overseeing multiple projects that include a new 7-story parking garage, a new 30,000-SF retail building, a utility relocation with installation of new 15kva switchgear, and intersection upgrades that lead into the campus.
What is your career highlight so far?
My highlights at PMA are being a part of award winning project teams for the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building (CMAA 2016 Project of the Year, New England Area) and the Albert Sherman Center & Power Plant Expansion (CMAA 2013 Program of the Year, New England area).
What is something new or innovative happening in your industry?
Procore Technologies has proved innovative because it provides a single source for all project information for all team members to coordinate among each other. For example, up-to-date drawings include revisions from addendums, bulletins, RFI sketches, shop drawings, etc. Also, Procore can be used to manage the budget and change orders, as well as financial reporting that details budget modifications, etc. One more beneficial management aspect of Procore is that it monitors and tracks the flow of information that has been uploaded for team review or project updates, which helps hold respective teams accountable.
What university or college did you graduate from?
I attended Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering for my BS and Wayne State University for my MS, both in civil engineering.
What is your favorite local establishment/feature (restaurant, museum, stadium, etc.)?
My favorite local stadiums are the New England Patriots’ Gillette Stadium and Boston Red Sox’s Fenway Park. I love the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and dining at Del Frisco’s in Boston’s Seaport District.
Provide a Fun Fact?
I love sports and I’m still loyal to my hometown Detroit teams, no matter if they win or lose. I love to travel abroad; the Caribbean islands are my favorite.
