PMA’s Francisco Cruz and Jaime Sobrino provided a Lunch and Learn for the Tampa Bay chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education Program on November 20. The course was titled “Applied Tools and Methods for a Successful Project Delivery.”
Francisco and Jaime identified that one of the major challenges faced by A/E firms is delivering their designs by the required deadlines. Design professionals often deal with last minute scope changes, complex integration of design models, and team members in diverse locations that contribute to missing project milestones. This seminar addressed the application of several tools and methods that design project managers can use to keep their projects on track, leveraging project metrics to anticipate potential deviations from the plan, and assessing mitigation strategies. The session included a discussion about the implementation of risk analysis, lean design, key performance indicators, virtual design and construction, and scheduling management that delved into how to increase the likelihood of meeting target dates.
