Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building

Overview

The $124 million Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building, part of the Dudley Square vision, involves incorporating three historic façades into a new high-rise office/retail complex to serve as the new Boston Public School headquarters on the site of the historic Ferdinand’s Furniture building. The space is intended to demonstrate how Boston builds next-generation office space.

Design includes a flexible open-floor space with minimal offices, high-tech meeting rooms, significant day lighting, and a high-performance building management system. Other unique project features include a 214,000-SF, eight-story high-rise; a small underground parking facility; five green roofs; LEED-Silver certification build standards; and an international designer, Mecanoo International. This project creates a modern, green municipal facility that will improve city services to the neighborhood, strengthen the public realm, and help inaugurate a new era for Dudley Square.

PMA is representing the city as the Owner’s Project Manager.

Among many recognitions, this project was awarded the 2015 ‘Best Project – Government/Public Buildings’ by ENR New England and 2015 ‘Project of the Year Award’ by CMAA New England.
