Cost and Schedule Control at the Enterprise Level
In the current competitive economic environment it is essential that businesses seek out and adopt the best management practices in order to prosper. This has directed many organizations to the use of an enterprise or portfolio management system. There are several enterprise resource
planning (ERP) programs currently available to the user today. Our experience has found that in addition to the enterprise resource planning software, it is also extremely beneficial to incorporate the cost and resource information from the ERP software into the project scheduling system. This paper will discuss the benefits of integrating the ERP cost information to the enterprise scheduling system, the common obstacles in moving forward with implementation of new software in an organization, the procedure used in the implementation process, and various set-up and operational options.
