PMA provides comprehensive construction management consulting services that provide the best results for your project. Our experts possess decades of engineering and construction experience and apply this knowledge to the everyday challenges that owners, contractors, engineers, and architects face throughout the construction process. Depending on your specific project needs and requirements, PMA provides the following construction consulting services:
Since 2000, PMA has ranked among the top 45 Construction Management-for-Fee firms in the United States as rated by Engineering News-Record. We tailor every team to fit your specific project needs. Parallel to our program management expertise is our mission to serve as your advocate in achieving specific project goals in providing complete or select construction management services.
In the scheduling industry, PMA is recognized as one of the nation’s foremost planning and scheduling subject matter experts. We’ve pioneered numerous project scheduling innovations and have published many articles and papers on schedule, delay, and acceleration analyses and on the use of the critical path method in construction contracts.
We are experts in developing, evaluating, and maintaining design and construction schedules. Using primarily Oracle’s Primavera Portfolio Management® (P6) and/or NetPoint for planning capital projects, we develop schedules during the design phase for developing an initial schedule and project duration and for planning critical project activities. During construction, we create schedules for monitoring construction activities, analyze changed conditions and delays, and evaluate their impact on project completion. Post construction, we use schedules to facilitate project closeout and analyze claims, if necessary.
While most construction manager, engineer, and architecture firms provide detailed cost information on a monthly basis, it’s critical to develop standardized, owner-centric cost reports that summarize critical cost data relevant to the owner. Without a standardized project-level report, it is difficult to track cost trends and variances on a level that is meaningful to the overall completion of the project.
PMA performs detailed cost estimate reviews at various stages of the design process. When preparing an estimate, PMA develops strategies that maximize bid benefits through bid alternatives. We also review and evaluate capital and operating cost saving measures, using our extensive knowledge and experience to provide additional benefits to the owner.
Construction processes and contracts are often complex. PMA provides comprehensive oversight to make sure the project is constructed according to your plans and specifications. We provide general advice and counsel from assisting with contractor selection to updating you on project status. We protect your interests by reviewing and verifying contractor applications for payment along with any claims that may arise.
Change Order Management
Resolving change order situations early minimizes your costs and avoids contractor and project schedule disruptions. PMA has extensive experience developing and managing the change order process for owners, contractors, and subcontractors on multimillion dollar projects and includes labor rate compliance, change order metrics, and contract entitlement.
PMA is often asked to assess the accuracy and completeness of construction plans and specifications and to validate schedules and budgets. A constructability review looks for document inconsistencies and completeness, potential liability, coordination issues, and missed details, among others. It also identifies and eliminates ambiguities and contract language that contribute to unnecessary construction change orders, disputes, and adversarial relationships between the contractor, owner, designer, and project stakeholders.
