ADOT Loop 202/South Mountain Freeway

Overview

The $1.9 billion ADOT Loop 202/South Mountain Freeway is the largest project in Arizona state history. Scope on this design-build-maintain contract includes adding 22 miles of freeway to the existing Phoenix metropolitan transportation system. The freeway will connect the east and west valleys while providing much-needed relief to existing freeway corridors and local streets. Features include a double roundabout interchange; 4.5 miles of widening improvements; general purpose and high-occupancy vehicle lanes; 41 bridges, including one pedestrian; 11 miles of sound walls; 5 multiuse underpass crossings; 2 half diverging diamond interchanges, and a six-mile shared-use path. As part of the owner’s representative oversight team, PMA provided scheduling and claims consulting services on this contract.
