This $135 million seven-story hospital contains 242,000 SF. Hospital features include a mechanical penthouse, 155 beds, a pediatric intensive care unit with more than twice the capacity of the previous unit, a larger neonatal intensive care unit, and additional surgical suites.
The University of Chicago Hospitals sought PMA’s assistance to resolve mounting change order requests and to minimize the risk of future scheduling, quality control, and economic setbacks. PMA was brought in to review and assist in resolving all electrical and mechanical change order requests as well as requests for time extensions. PMA provided the client with project-specific processes to avoid disputes as the project neared completion. This included resolving outstanding claims to prevent litigation and weekly schedule reviews to mitigate schedule discrepancies. The project was completed sooner than anticipated and for less cost than previously projected as the result of PMA’s assistance.
