The Long Beach Airport (LGB) is in the process of undertaking a multiyear, multiphase modernization plan. The city recently approved the contractor selection for a $58.8 million project to design and construct a new ticketing lobby, consolidated baggage claim, and checked baggage system. In addition to these terminal improvements, LGB also completed infrastructure improvements to the airport’s busiest runway through a $15.3 million Federal Aviation Administration grant. The airport has reorganized the procurement process by centralizing the administration of the process within the airport’s Finance and Administration Bureau. As part of the reorganization, the Finance and Administration Bureau is also establishing new policies and procedures surrounding procurement.
