The $250 million New Bullards Bar Dam atmospheric river control spillway project involves installing new lower spillway gates that allow the release of up to 35,000 cubic feet of water per second. This significantly reduces flood risk to communities and agriculture along the Yuba and Feather Rivers, improves levee resilience, and enhances climate resilience and dam safety. These new ARC spillway gates will be 31.5 feet lower than the existing gates, will enable managing an additional 117,000 acre-feet of reservoir space, and release water from the reservoir when available capacity is in the downstream conveyance.
PMA provides comprehensive program project controls, including preconstruction, construction schedule management, and risk management. Services include developing an internal schedule to track project milestones up to notice to proceed and creating a risk register with input from the project team. We also designer schedule reviews and analyses as part of constructability and buildability assessments, and actively participates in related workshops and reviews to verify project feasibility and efficiency. PMA overcame the challenge of collecting accurate contractor construction schedules and keeping contractors engaged in an open line of communication using our steadfast stakeholder management practice and by providing fair and accurate schedule comments during the review process. PMA negotiated multiple change orders and time extension requests, helping the owner avoid schedule delays and increased cost. Overview
