My career highlight is my 3.5 years experience at PMA working on a laboratory and pharmaceutical renovation project. I have been implementing schedule control and monitoring, interactive planning sessions, and schedule analysis to develop and maintain schedule as well as align team expectations and execution plans for a complex, full operating, and uninterrupted manufacturing site. Because of the success of this project and the additional capacity, the client was able to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and has been able to utilize the new facility to start production, aiming for over 50 million COVID tests per month. Working alongside some of our PMA colleagues, I was able to deliver a suite of interactive reports to our client using Microsoft Power BI.  These reports were made available to more than 200 employees within their organization and have grown to become essential tools in helping plan and execute work within their program.  Our efforts received a great deal of recognition by the client, and the style of reporting that we introduced has since become the standard for the organization. On the Tahanto Middle/High School project (Tahanto) for the Berlin-Boylston Regional School District, the entire project team – contractor, owner, architect, all of us – was able to come together and split the cost of donating used furniture, sports equipment, textbooks, etc. to an underprivileged school district in Jamaica. It was a wonderful endeavor for all of us to get done.

Donations were made possible by a company called IRN: The Reuse Network (IRN), a recycling center that matches surplus furniture and equipment with charities and nonprofits worldwide. Tahanto was the first project PMA collaborated with IRN on, and we continue to do so on current projects such as the Saugus Middle-High School. I think this is one of the greatest things PMA and our clients do. Learn more here.

I need to learn something new every day! Thankfully that is something that comes pretty easily at PMA given the great people, clients, and challenging projects with which we are involved. I enjoy working with the level of autonomy that PMA allows. There is an expectation that I’ll do my job and do it well, but there is not a feeling of being monitored for how I make it happen. That provides an opportunity to improve things rather than just plodding along with how they’ve always been done. There is opportunity to try new roles if you want to, but not an expectation that you must take every assignment offered. The result is that you have agency in your own career development.
